Aggregates from our Larkin Pit, strategically located between the Comox Valley and Campbell River, allows us to directly supply for retaining walls, foundations, walking/biking paths, drainage ditches, farming operations, rock pits and more.

The production operation uses a stationary screener to process various aggregates from raw pit run material into an array of products.

C-33, Sand & Gravel by Coast Hydro

C-33

C-33 sand is a washed, fine concrete sand used for concrete mixes, masonry, plastering, and as bedding sand for pavers and pipes. When used on septic fields and sewage mounds, C-33 reduces biomat clogging because it contains fewer fine particles.

Bedding sand is clean, well-graded sand used to level, support, and cushion pavers, pipes, and concrete slabs, ensuring proper alignment, drainage, and load distribution. It is also commonly used in agriculture, including for animal stalls and riding arenas.

Bank Pit Run

Bank pit run is unprocessed aggregate straight from the pit, used for bulk fill, embankments, and rough grading where precise sizing and compaction aren’t critical. This needs to be machine levelled if used as a base for roads and driveways and should be placed in layers 12” thick or more.

10 mm minus aggregate is a finely crushed gravel blend with particles up to 10 mm, including fines that help it compact tightly, making it ideal for pathways, base layers, leveling, and finishing surfaces.

3/8 Aggregate

3/8″ aggregate is a screened round product with uniform particles up to 10 mm (3/8 inch), unwashed, commonly used for drainage, concrete mixes, pipe bedding, and decorative landscaping applications.

Drain rock is clean, screened round rock with little to no fines, designed to allow water to flow freely. It’s used for drainage systems, perimeter drains, septic fields, retaining walls, and pipe bedding.

Screened pit run is a natural sand-and-gravel mix, screened to size, used for general fill, backfill, road base, and site leveling where drainage is acceptable. It compacts well and provides a stable base for construction projects, driveways, subgrades, and large-scale site preparation where a balance of performance and cost is important.
